We would like to remind you that anyone who works in a profession where confidentiality is a requirement of the job must not discuss cases on Scar Tissue. As a person in a position where confidentiality is required, you should be aware that to break professional confidentiality laws is illegal and morally questionable.
Any posts on Scar Tissue discussing issues of a confidential nature, even if names and locations aren't mentioned, could have serious repercussions not only for you, as if it is discovered that you are in breach of your oath of confidentiality you will lose your job, but also the board for allowing confidential information to be publically displayed.
Posting about confidential discussion could also discourage others on the site from seeking professional help out of fear that their therapist would disclose anything they might tell them. It is hard to discuss somethings, and being worried that your therapist/teacher/counsellor/doctor is disclosing what has been discussed in your sessions only makes seeking help harder.
We do not want to deter you from posting to ask for help with situations. A post that says 'I found out a pupil self harms, what do I do?' are fine. A post that says 'I got into school today and one of the girls in my Year 12 class told me that she was cutting. She's been abused by her father and her mother is an alcoholic, which is why she started.' aren't.
If any posts which do break confidentiality rules are made on the board, they will be deleted and we will have no choice but to take further action. _________________
