Self injury, while not exclusive to young people, seems to take place mainly between the ages of 11-25. As young people spend so much of their time at school it seems useful for schools, teachers and governers to understand self injury and what can be done about it in school.
Colorado Department of Education's Self Injury Handout is a useful resource giving teachers an insight into self harm in schools. A search for self harm on their website (click here for the search results page) also throws up a range of links that might be useful for those working in education.
Written on the Body has been revamped and is now available. Find information here on self harm in schools and at home; how self harmers should be treated in hospitals and peer support for you, the carers of self harmers.
